Amaranth Porridge

Wow this is the first time I have used Amaranth and I love it. Here is a porridge using amaranth

Ingredients
1/4 cup organic amaranth
3/4 cup water
1 Chopped Apple

Method
Add water to amaranth and chopped apples, mix quickly.
Cook for 10 mins or until thick, stirring occassionally.
Serve with milk and honey (or just honey is lovley if you can't have milk)
That's it

Recipe Review:
I have tried a few variations and it is pretty much always comes out perfect. The porridge thickens up quickly but doesnt go stodgy

Organic Recipe Rating:
Cost Rating- 3/5 - this is probably the only draw back of this recipe. At $10 per/kilo, Amaranth is not the cheapest grain out there. With a serving cost at around $2.50, it is still cheaper than that decafe latte.

Preparation Rating 4.5/5 - can you peel and chop apples? then this is the recipe for you. Nothing to it and guaranteed to turn out right.

Taste Rating 4/5 - does need a little bit of honey to sweeten up, but the amaranth porridge has a lovely light soft texture that makes it really easy to digest and the warmth is perfect for those chilly mornings.

Family Rating 8/10 - No more stodgy porridge in this house

Those that would like to try an alternative breakfast cereal try puffed amaranth
